Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson believes his players owe it to injured captain Roy Keane to reach next month's Champions League final.

The Republic of Ireland captain, who was suspended for United's victorious final with Bayern Munich in 1999, has been ruled out for at least three weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in Tuesday's 2-0 quarter-final, first leg win at Deportivo Coruna.

"I think the players owe Roy a final," Ferguson said. "All we know with Roy is that he will be out for a minimum of three to four weeks. It doesn't look as if he'll play in the semi-final if we get there, which is a huge blow for us and him".

United face Deportivo next week in the second leg at Old Trafford, with the prospect of an all-English semi-final looming after Liverpool beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 in their first leg at Anfield on Wednesday.

Should United overcome those hurdles, Keane could make the final on May 15th, being played in Ferguson's home city of Glasgow at Hampden Park.

United will be without suspended Paul Scholes and fellow midfielders David Beckham and Juan Sebastian Veron are doubtful through injury for the second leg against Deportivo.

But Ferguson said Beckham could be back for the second leg after being stretchered off on Tuesday with an ankle injury, following a tackle by Deportivo's Diego Tristan.
