London - Gen. Augusto Pinochet's lawyers will not return to the High Court to pursue their bid for a judicial review of the Home Secretary's decision to allow extradition proceedings against him, it was announced yesterday.

It means the next phase in the drawn-out legal battle will come in September when the former Chilean dictator faces committal proceedings on charges of torture and conspiracy to torture.

Meanwhile, at Camp Zeist in the Netherlands, a Scottish court yesterday granted a request by defence lawyers to delay the trial of two Libyans accused of the 1988 Lockerbie airline bombing by an extra six months.
