Gardai denied yesterday they had produced photographs of the aftermath of the Omagh bombing to a man accused of membership of an illegal organisation.

Defence counsel Mr Stephen McCann BL put it to Det Garda Anthony Hearty of the Special Detective Unit that the photographs of the Omagh bombing were shown to the accused during interviews conducted by him and Det Sgt Daniel Prenty on October 3rd and 4th last year.

"I did not present any photographs," he said, adding that such images were produced in his presence.

During a series of interviews at Kells Garda Station, detectives put it to Mr Campbell that he was a commanding officer of the organisation styling itself the Real IRA, which had carried out the Omagh bombing. The accused was asked if he wished to disassociate himself from the bombing of Omagh, to which he made no reply. The trial continues on Tuesday.
