The brother of Mel C from the Spice Girls was yesterday recovering after he crashed her new car. Paul O'Neill (17) drove the £35,000 Mercedes into a lamp post before his sister had the chance to drive it.

His mother said he had not been seriously injured.

Mother Teresa will not go to court to block a television film on her life, but would like a public apology from its scriptwriter. An associate of Mother Teresa said yesterday she had "withdrawn permission not once but twice" after reading the script eight years ago. The film, starring Geraldine Chap- lin, is due to be shown in October in the US on the "Family Channel".

Painter Joan Miro's grandson has discovered a hitherto unknown drawing by Pablo Pi- casso, which lay hidden for 34 years. The small drawing, dated 1963, represents a scene with a bull-fighter, a bull and a picador.

Serge Peretti, the Italian-born dancer and choreographer has died at the home of French dancer Claude Bessy, previously one of his pupils. Peretti was aged 92.

Some of his most celebrated performances were in Prome- theus' Creatures, Giselle and The Life of Polichinelle.

Yury Nikulin, perhaps Russia's best-loved show business personality, died in Moscow yesterday. He was aged 75.

Nikulin, who was director of the Moscow Circus, had been in intensive care since August 5th, after recovering from a 30minute clinical death.

A clown at the Moscow Circus in the 1950s, Nikulin became a movie actor in 1958, rocketing to stardom a decade later in a series of comedies which are still shown on Russian television.
