Yoko Ono (64) is about to sign a contract with Columbia Pictures for a $65 million film on her life with John Lennon, according to the Sunday Times.

She is prepared to cede to Columbia the rights to Lennon's songs Imagine and Give Peace a Chance, adding at least $80 million to her fortune, put at $480 million.

Paul Theroux has accused Playboy magazine of bowing to Chinese concerns by refusing to print an extract of his recent novel about Hong Kong.

Theroux said Playboy accepted but later refused to print an extract from his novel, Kowloon Tong, which has apparently been banned in China because of its unflattering depiction of mainland Chinese businessmen, according to the South China Morning Post.

Ed Koch, former mayor of New York, is set to begin a new career as the star of the television series The People's Court. Koch (72) will preside over a small claims court where people squabble over items of small economic but intense emotional value.

As mayor, Koch was responsible for appointing more than 140 judges. Although never a judge himself, he says he has a good idea of what it takes.
