THE ashes of TV star Hughie Green will be scattered in two places to honour his Canadian sweetheart and his Scottish roots, his son disclosed yesterday.
The 77 year old game show pioneer of the 1950s and 1960s, who presented Opportunity Knocks and Double Your Money, died on Saturday after a nine month struggle against cancer. He left instructions in his will that his ashes should be divided between Scotland and Canada, his son Christopher said.
Green, who was born in London, was the son of a Scottish soldier in the Canadian army and an Irish mother.
Australia's richest woman, Janet Holmes a Court, yesterday spoke out on national television to deny widespread rumours of an affair with former prime minister, Paul Keating. She said Keating, who was a "great friend" of her late husband, was also a friend of hers, but their relationship was strictly platonic.
