THE former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, has spoken of his love for his wife, Linda, who has made her first appearance on one of his videos since she was diagnosed as suffering from breast cancer.
Sir Paul, who has just been knighted, is set to release his latest album, Flaming Pie, on Monday. He wrote it while his wife of 28 years battled the illness.
He said he wrote some songs for the album in the time it would take Linda to cook a meal. "I was acting as Linda's chauffeur as she was doing some photography for her cookery. I would just go off into a little back room and leave her to it until she was ready to go home. I know my place!"
The lead guitarist of the veteran British rock group, Status Quo, Rick Parfitt, has had emergency heart surgery and the band's upcoming tour of Britain and Europe over the next three months has been cancelled, a spokesman for the band said yesterday.
The 48-year-old rocker underwent a quadruple heart bypass.
