THE DAUGHTER of former Beatle Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney (25), is to take over from Karl Lagerfeld at the French fashion house Chloe, and will present her first show next October.

As a teenager McCartney was an apprentice with Christian Lacroix and later worked in Savile Row before launching Stella McCartney Ltd in 1995 near Portobello market in London.

British fashion designer Mary Quant (62) has been made a director of House of Fraser.

Quant, who caused a fashion revolution in the 1960s with the creation of the mini-skirt, was awarded an OBE in 1966.
