US ex-president George Bush (72) yesterday made a successful parachute jump - more than 50 years after he bailed out of a second World War bomber. With the blessing of his wife Barbara, Bush made the jump from a civilian plane 12,500 feet over the Arizona desert, deploying his orange, yellow and blue parachute at 4,500 feet.
He touched down on the desert floor, where about a half-dozen people rushed to assist him, landing with no apparent sign of injury.
Medical emergency personnel were standing by on the ground.
