The Beatles dominate a poll on the most popular albums of all time, taking four of the top five places in the list of the top 1,000 albums.

Revolver, which was released in 1966, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), The White Album (1968) and Abbey Road (1969) take the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th places respectively in the "All Time Top 1,000 Albums" to be published by Virgin tomorrow. The survey is based on almost 200,000 votes, making it the largest poll ever conducted.

The Fab Four also top a separate list of the Top 50 Artists Of All Time, followed by Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd.

While the dinosaurs of rock still seem to rule the pop world, Nirvana's Nevermind makes the top 1,000 in fourth place while R.E.M's Automatic For the People is in seventh.
