New York - Rowdy concert-goers set fires, tore down speaker towers and looted souvenir stands in rioting that went on for several hours starting late on Sunday night at the end of the 30th anniversary Woodstock festival.

New York State Police and concert organisers reported no injuries or arrests in the rioting, which ended early yesterday morning and left a trail of destruction on a field at the decommissioned Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York.

The trouble ended what had been a relatively peaceful weekend that attracted an estimated 225,000 people, most in their teens and early 20s.
