An 18-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being the victim of a paramilitary-style shooting in west Belfast last night.
Shortly before 10pm, four masked men abducted the victim on La Salle Drive and bundled him into a silver Peugeot 406 estate car.
He was then driven a short distance to Corrib Avenue where he was taken out of the car and shot once in each leg.
The man was taken to hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Police are working to establish a motive for the attack and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Grosvenor Road police station.
Local Sinn Féin councillor Briege Brownlee condemned the shooting saying it would not resolve “the outstanding problems with antisocial behaviour in that area”.
“People in this area are working hard to resolve these issues on behalf of this community and this type of activity simply undermines that work,” she added.
