A carpenter’s assistant who is paralysed from the waist down after falling while involved in the construction of a house is believed to have secured more than €2 million in settlement of his High Court action.
James O’Donoghue (23) had ambitions to become a garda and was called for training while he was being treated in hospital after the fall on January 12th, 2005, the court heard.
The proceedings were brought against four defendants and the case was settled before Mr Justice Daniel Herbert without admission of liability.
