A Palestinian teenager was shot dead by Israeli troops during clashes in the Askar refugee camp near the West Bank city of Nablus today.

Rami Kutush, a 19-year-old camp refugee, was killed and two other Palestinians wounded by Israeli gunfire during a curfew in the Nablus area.

Israeli troops who reoccupied the self-rule area of Nablus since June 21st opened fire on Palestinians who were throwing stones at them, Palestinian witnesses said.

Earlier this morning, an Israeli soldier was seriously injured when Palestinian militants opened fire on his unit with automatic weapons in the Gaza Strip.

The incident occurred as the soldiers were on a routine patrol near Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, near the border with Egypt, Israeli military sources said, adding that the injured soldier had been evacuated by helicopter.

The sources also said that Palestinian militants also fired a mortar shell and gunshots into the nearby Jewish settlement of Neve Dekalim, without causing any casualties.
