Pakistani police have arrested two more suspected members of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network in the Punjab city of Lahore, an official said today.
A police official said they were arrested in the suburbs of the central Punjab province's capital last night.
"They had been taken to an interrogation centre outside the city for questioning by intelligence agencies on their suspected links to al-Qaeda, blamed for the September 11th attacks on the United States," he said.
Over 70 people have been arrested in Punjab over the past week. One of them identified by US officials as Mr Abu Zubaydah, one of bin Laden's closest associates.
More than half those arrested in Punjab were Pakistani and many have been released.
The police official said the search for militants who left Afghanistan after the radical Islamic Taliban were ousted in December may be broadened to other Punjab cities.
