Pair charged after Manchester terror raids

Police in the Greater Manchester area have charged two men following a series of anti-terrorism raids last month.

Police in the Greater Manchester area have charged two men following a series of anti-terrorism raids last month.

Omar Altimimi (36) from Bolton, was charged with four offences under the Terrorism Act 2000.

He is accused of four offences under Sections 57 and 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and one offence under Section 329 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

A second man, 29-year-old Yusuf Abdullah, of no fixed address, has been charged with one offence under Section 329 of the Proceeds of Crime Act and one offence under Section 24 of the Theft Act 1968.

Altimimi and Abdullah were arrested on June 27th after Greater Manchester Police officers swooped, unarmed, on eight houses in Bolton.

Around 50 officers were involved in the raids, with 200 more working behind the scenes. Both will appear at Bow Street Magistrates' Court, in London, tomorrow.
