October was warmer than normal, with daytime temperatures reaching over 20 Celsius in the south at the beginning of the month and, more generally, in the period 18th to 19th, according to monthly figures issued by Met Eireann.

Mean temperatures for the month were up to half a degree above normal in the northern half of the State, but over a degree above in the south. They ranged from 10.4 Celsius at Mullingar to 13.0 at Valentia Observatory.

Sunshine totals for October were generally slightly above normal in the northern half of the State, but below normal in the south.
