Ronnie O'Sullivan has held "informal talks" with the head of World Snooker following his controversial walkout at last month's UK Championship.
O'Sullivan was trailing Stephen Hendry 4-1 in their best-of-17-frame quarter-final at York when he prematurely conceded the match.
A spokesman for the game's governing body has confirmed that O'Sullivan attended a meeting with chairman Rodney Walker on Wednesday to discuss his behaviour, but said that it was for "informal talks, not a disciplinary hearing".
This means that the two-time former world champion could still face a fine or even a ban as Walker is not a member of World Snooker's disciplinary committee.
A statement issued on the player's behalf at the time of the walkout said: "(I am) sorry to let down the fans who came to see me play. It wasn't my intention to disappoint them and for that I'm truly apologetic."
Walker has already signalled his belief that World Snooker should help 'The Rocket' rather than punish him.
"Ronnie from time to time does suffer from depression and things of that nature," he said on the day of the UK Championship final. "We owe it to the fellow to at least give him the chance to explain to us what state of mind he was in when he walked out."
O'Sullivan is due back in action next Tuesday in the Masters at Wembley Arena.
