OSLO - East Timor Roman Catholic Bishop Carlos Belo and the resistance leader, Mr Jose Ramos Horta, co winners of the 1996 Nobel Peace Prize, have appealed to Jakarta for a dialogue in the Indonesian ruled territory.

However, they issued their appeals at separate news conferences in what Mr Ramos Horta hinted was a result of pressure by Jakarta on Dr Belo, who will share the prize today with the self exiled activist.

Indonesia has condemned the inclusion of Mr Ramos Horta with Bishop Belo as a Peace Prize winner and has said it will not be reported at the ward ceremony.
