Images of street violence in Northern Ireland being beamed around the world are doing untold damage to efforts to build tourism and business investment, Sir Reg Empey, the North’s Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister warned today.
"With devolution we can look to the future and build towards the realisation of a balanced, competitive, innovative, knowledge-based, fast growing economy," Mr Empey said.

"[However] our efforts will be frustrated if we fail to alter the images of Northern Ireland that are being beamed around the world on a regular basis.
"Images of the recent street violence are doing untold damage to our efforts to build tourism and business investment."
Mr Empey was launching a new economic corporate plan for the North - Becoming a Modern Economy.
If the region wanted to enjoy the benefits that would stem from becoming a modern economy, he said the image of an economically dynamic Northern Ireland was the image that was to be seen on a global level.
The corporate plan sets out a strategic direction, and how the minister's department would support the key objectives of the Northern Ireland Executive's Programme for Government in securing a competitive economy.
