One of Northern Ireland's leading engineering companies is creating 170 permanent jobs thanks to an increase in export orders, it announced today.

The jobs are being given to temporary agency workers currently at the factories of Co Antrim engineering company FG Wilson.

The shopfloor workers are employed in the assembly of generating sets for export worldwide from the company factories in Larne, Monkstown and Springvale in west Belfast.

The company, a subsidiary of the giant US Caterpillar corporation, said the move was the result of an increase in orders from around the world.
