Police in Newry, Co Down are appealing for witnesses to a brutal beating that happened early on Friday.
A local man (20) remains in serious condition in hospital after being attacked by up to nine masked men with nail-studded sticks.
He was assaulted while driving towards Forkhill in South Armagh. His car was forced off the road by a blue pick-up truck, a small car and an old Hiace van. He was then dragged from his car and taken to the back of a nearby school where he was beaten.
He suffered broken limbs, a gash in his head, and several puncture wounds.
