Newcastle and Liverpool were handed tricky UEFA Cup second round draws this morning after being paired with FC Basel and Steua Bucharest respectively.

Manchester City should have little to fear from Polish minnows Groclin Grodzisk while Hearts have a mountain to climb after being drawn against Bordeaux.

Liverpool, who played in Bucharest against Rapid three years ago, will play in the Romanian capital in the first leg of the tie.

Former European Cup winners Steaua secured their place in the draw by seeing off Liverpool's Premiership rivals Southampton in midweek. Gerard Houllier's side came through with victory over Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana.
