New head for women's council

A self-employed project manager has been elected chairwoman of the National Women's Council of Ireland.

A self-employed project manager has been elected chairwoman of the National Women's Council of Ireland.

Dubliner Ms Grainne Healy (40), a former secondary school teacher and journalist who worked as a sub-editor on the Irish Press, was editor of the women's publishing house, Attic Press, for some years. As a feminist activist, she was involved in many campaigns for reproductive rights, trade union rights and women's education.
