Riga - Latvia's Prime Minister, Mr Andris Shkele, said yesterday that Mr Konrad Kalejs, suspected of war crimes in Nazi-occupied Latvia during the second World War, should be put on trial if any new evidence against him surfaced.

Mr Kalejs (86) has been staying in Britain, which on Monday ordered him deported to Australia. The Australian government says he can stay in the country and would not be prosecuted without new information.
