A new postgraduate course for primary teaching will provide a further 280 places for students who wish to qualify as primary teachers.
Announcing the 18-month course, the Minister for Education, Mr Martin, said the extra places would further reduce pupil-teacher ratios. There are 2,756 undergraduate students in teacher training colleges and 280 on existing postgraduate courses.
