Anglo Irish Bank Corp's appointment of a new chief executive officer has been delayed by regulators, according to one of its directors.
David Drumm's successor will be named "very soon," Alan Dukes, a non-executive director, said in an interview today in Glenties, Co Donegal.
"The delays in the business plan and the appointment have to do with the fact that because our regulators proved for so long to not be very good at their job, they are now being too perfectly careful and asking every question 10 times before they'll give you a 'yes'," Mr Dukes said.
No one at the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority was immediately available to comment.
The former minister for finance was appointed to the bank's board by the Government in December.
Mr Drumm resigned in December, a day after Chairman Sean Fitzpatrick stepped down saying he hadn't disclosed all of his loans from the bank to investors.
The Dublin-based bank, taken over by the Government in January, has been run by Executive Chairman Donal O'Connor since Drumm's exit.
