Otlja - NATO continued to collect rebel arms in Macedonia yesterday, saying it should end the current phase of operations by this weekend, while voicing concern over paramilitaries disrupting work.

The NATO spokesman, Mr Mark Laity, also reiterated concerns about Macedonian paramilitaries disrupting the collection of arms, notably around the western village of Ratae, near the flashpoint town of Tetovo. The Macedonian interior ministry reacted angrily to a letter from NATO Secretary- General Lord Robertson's personal representative, Mr Peter Feith, accusing him of giving a "distorted presentation" of the state-run forces.
