The Ennis man charged with the murder of Belgian national Mr Walter van Dael (42) failed to obtain bail yesterday.

Mr Eric Considine (23) of Stone Court, Drumbiggle, Ennis, has remained in custody since he was charged with the murder on July 26th last. A High Court order obtained last week granted Mr Considine bail on condition that he provide his own surety of £10,000; an independent surety of £10,000; that he sign on at Ennis Garda Station every day between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. and that he observe a daily curfew between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

However, Judge Albert O'Dea stated yesterday that he could not be satisfied with the form of independent surety being offered and remanded Mr Considine in custody to reappear before Ennis District Court on Friday.
