Demolition work began on the Mullaghmore interpretative centre and car-park in the Burren National Park yesterday, after local protesters lifted their blockade.
The Taoiseach persuaded the protesters last week that the law must be upheld and the protest was called off.
The works comply with a High Court order secured by the Burren Action Group last July, ordering the site must be reinstated by June. It will cost £850,000.
