Two sisters found guilty of killing their mother's boyfriend were sentenced to long jail terms by the Central Criminal Court today.

Charlotte Mulhall (23) from Tallaght was found guilty in October of murdering Kenyan Farah Swaleh Noor in March 2005 and has been sentenced to life in jail.

Her sister, Linda Mulhall (31), a mother of four, also from Tallaght, was found guilty of manslaughter and has been jailed for 15 years.

Sentencing the women at Dublin Central Criminal Court, Mr Justice Paul Carney said the case was the most grotesque of killings that had occurred within his professional lifetime.

It took a jury at the Central Criminal Court 18 hours of deliberation to reach its decision.

The trial heard the pair killed Mr Noor (38) after a drinking session at a house in Summerhill in Dublin city centre.

They attempted to cover up the crime by spending several hours chopping up their victim's body with a hammer and kitchen knife. They dumped parts of his body around the capital. The victim's head and penis have never been found.

The torso and limbs were found in the Royal Canal near Croke Park while the head, which has never been found, is believed to have been buried in Tymon Park in Tallaght.
