Motherwell will hold a board meeting later today to assess the financial plight of the club.

Reports suggest the Lanarkshire outfit are heading for a cash crisis with manager Eric Black on the verge of leaving Fir Park to join Coventry-bound Gary McAllister at Highfield Road as assistant boss.

However Well chief executive Pat Nevin insists Black has not notified the club of an intention to leave.

Nevin said: "There will be a board meeting today at 2pm and I will discover what - if anything - is going on then.

"That is all we can say at the moment until we see what happens at the board meeting. "As far as I'm aware, there has been no official or unofficial bid (for Black) or even communication from any other club." - PA
