Mother gets chance to keep home

A BUILDING society has given a Co Dublin mother a chance to save her home.

A BUILDING society has given a Co Dublin mother a chance to save her home.

Yesterday, 24 hours before the Irish Permanent Building Society was entitled to repossess her home, the society's solicitor, Mr Peter Kirwan, told the Circuit Civil Court his clients were prepared to stay any further action to facilitate an immediate £4,000 lodgment by Mrs Teresa Connolly, of Roselawn Estate, Ballydowd, Lucan, against an arrears bill of £32,000.

Judge Elizabeth Duane noted the society's undertaking and that of Mrs Connolly to lodge the money. She said the stay should be for four months to allow Mrs Connolly deal with the proposed sale of property in James's Street, Dublin, which, the court heard, would clear off all arrears.
