San Francisco - Public health officials in San Francisco have begun promoting a controversial strategy to help curb the spread of AIDS: a "morning after" treatment for those who think they may have been exposed to HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The programme, known as "post-exposure prophylaxis" or PEP, has been criticised by some public health experts who say it may encourage people to take risks with AIDS.
