The Glenstal Book of Prayer, a compilation of Celtic and Benedictine prayers from the monks of Glenstal Abbey, Co Limerick, has reached number one in the Irish hardback, non-fiction section, writes Eibhir Mulqueen.
Mr Brian Lynch, of Columba publishers, said 9,000 copies had sold in the three weeks since the book was published, including 1,000 at the abbey's shop. A US publisher had ordered 5,000 copies.
"There is a big movement at the moment towards liturgy of the hours for lay people," Mr Lynch said.
