Irish mineral exploration group Minco today said the results of its drilling operations to date at its Pallas Green zinc project in Co Limerick were positive.
Just under 80 per cent of a planned 50,000 meters of drilling on the site this year has been completed and Minco Chief Executive Terence McKillen said initial results showed high grade zinc and lead mineralisation at Tobermalug and Srahane West.
Pallas Green is regarded as one of the best zinc exploration prospects in the State and it is developing the project with Xstrata one of the largest zinc production companies in the world.
Minco has a 23.6 per cent interest in the Pallas Green project.
Mr McKillen said the drilling results from the area around the Tobermalug deposit "continue to add additional tonnage to the estimated resource potential".
