A man has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of another man in Co Meath yesterday.

Mariusz Jarosz (29), a Polish national with an address in Fitzherbert Wood, Navan, appeared at Trim District Court charged with the murder of David Mazur (25).

Mr Mazur died in hospital yesterday after being stabbed at a house at The Glebe, Cherryvalley, Rathmolyon, Co Meath.

Insp Alf Martyn told Judge Patrick Clyne he charged Mr Jarosz with the offence this morning.

An application for bail was made by defence solicitor Raymond Finnegan. Insp Martyn objected to bail being granted on a number of grounds.

Judge Clyne granted bail subject to strict terms and conditions.

Bail was set on the accused's own bond of €10,000, with an independent surety of €20,000.

He adjourned the case to Trim District Court on January 13th.

A second man (59) arrested in connection with Mr Mazur's death was released without charge late last night. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
