The Meath hurling backroom team have withdrawn their services ahead of this weekend's league clash with Antrim, RTE Radio reported today.

Manager Michael Duignan and his selectors are apparently unhappy with the county board's scheduling of key club football games at the weekend.

A number of the county's hurlers, most notably midfielder Cathal Sheridan and defender Kevin Dowd, hold dual status and are set to play club football games on Friday and Saturday - just hours before the National Hurling League game in Casement Park.

But Meath hurling board PRO Frank Dempsey told RTE Radio that work was going on in the background to reconcile the issue.

Dempsey said it was his understanding that sponsor Martin Donnelly had also withdrawn his services. Again, however, he said moves were being put in place to resolve the differences as it was a "very unfortunate situation".

It remains unclear if the Meath hurlers will withdraw their services.
