Paul McGinley took firm control of the Irish PGA Championship title at Adare Manor today, carding a third round 69 to move five shots clear of the field.

The defending champion leads Gary Murphy by five strokes after the Kilkenny man carded a 73, enjoying just one birdie on the day.

McGinley opened his round with four birdies in the opening six holes.
