Nicola Mazzucato has been drafted into the Italy squad for the Six Nations match against England at Twickenham on Sunday.
The centre replaces Alessandro Stoica who tore a thigh muscle playing for Castres at the weekend.
Flanker Mauro Bergamasco, who has played on the wing in Italy's first two Six Nations matches, has flu but is expected to recover in time.
Outhalf Diego Dominguez was not named in the 24-man squad after suffering a knee injury against Ireland but could be available for the Twickenham game.
Dominguez was a surprise starter for Stade Francais in their 38-28 defeat at Bourgoin at the weekend.
