A task force has been set up to deliver the Government’s primary health care strategy, it was announced today.
The task force will see the health boards work with the Department of Health to implement the reforms devised under the Primary Care: A New Directivestrategy.
The Minister for Health Mr Micheál Martin announced the initiative today. He said: "the time was right for a major refocus of primary care services and the introduction of a team approach to primary care."
The inter-disciplinary task force will also be responsible for informing the public and relevant organisations of the changes taking place.
It will be made up of representatives from primary care professional groups, unions, community organisations, the voluntary sector and other stakeholders. Professor Ivan Perry of University College Cork will chair the steering group.
