Markets round-up: ISEQ up 42 points

The ISEQ closed up 42 points at 6114 today.

The ISEQ closed up 42 points at 6114 today.

It was quite a busy day on the Dublin Stock Exchange, with a lot of trading going on.

People were taking profits on market leaders such as Bank of Ireland and AIB, and investing this in other stock.

Jurys and Smurfit both traded well today, but the big story was DCC Plc, theIrish marketing and distribution company, which saw its share price rise as it announced healthy annual earnings today and said it was well placed for further growth.

DCCs results were stronger than market analysts had expected.

Eircom’s price was down over 56 per cent after the splitting up of its fixed line and mobile phone service.

Bank of Ireland finished up 34 at 1158, a rise of 3.02 per cent. However, analysts have said that BoI traded below its fair value on Friday.
