Hundreds of people have inquired about the latest US visa lottery, according to a US embassy spokeswoman.
Since details of the lottery were announced last week, some 200 have called to the embassy, and two phone lines specifically dealing with inquiries have been constantly busy, she said. However, this may not translate into actual entries into the lottery, and of those only a minority who win the right to apply for a visa actually do so.
"Only about 30 per cent of those who are selected actually apply, and many of them never go to the States, or go on short visits," she said.
