A heroin addict who stole a cash register from a cerebral palsy shop has been jailed for 18 months by Judge Kevin Haugh at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Kenneth Doona (20), unemployed, single with one child, of School Street, Dublin, pleaded guilty to a single count of robbery. He has several previous convictions.

Mr Roger Sweetman, prosecuting, said Doona and another culprit grabbed the till and forcibly removed it from the shop. Mr Sweetman said the robbers were later identified on a shop video camera and arrested four days later. They stole £180 cash but the till was returned undamaged.
