Man’s body found in north Dublin canal

A man’s body has been recovered from the Royal Canal in Dublin this evening.

A man’s body has been recovered from the Royal Canal in Dublin this evening.

The body was found in a suitcase in the Royal Canal at Bins Bridge in Dromcondra at about 7.15 p.m.

The black case was spotted by two passers-by, who dragged it on the canal bank and saw the body inside.

The area has been sealed off for a technical examination and the State Pathologist Dr John Harbison has been called to the scene.

Garda Superintendent Albert Treacy said: "We believe the body had been there for about three days, and we are appealing for anybody who might have been near the scene around three days ago to come forward."
