A man has appeared in court charged over the seizure of an estimated five kilogrammes of cocaine in Co Meath earlier this week.

Gardaí said the drugs were worth between €500,000 and €750,000.

Mr Michael Browne (40), from Eastham Road, Bettystown, appeared before Ardee District Court this afternoon.

Mr Browne was charged with possession of the drugs with intent to sell or supply to others. He was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on October 2nd.

He was arrested with another man at a mobile home in Bettystown on Tuesday morning as a result of an investigation into criminal activity and serious crime by the Gardaí in Finglas.

A substantial amount of cash and drug paraphernalia was also seized.
