A Co Cork man has been remanded on bail to July 24th for sentence in the Central Criminal Court for attempted anal rape. The 28-year-old man pleaded not guilty to anal rape of a woman, also aged 28, on June 13th, 1996 but admitted attempting to commit the offence.
Mr Patrick Gageby SC, prosecuting, told Mr Justice Carney the plea was acceptable to the State. Earlier, a jury was sworn to try the defendant when he pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, anal rape and sexual assault of the woman.
