An 18-year-old man has been seriously injured in a machete attack at a house in Antrim

An 18-year-old man has been seriously injured in a machete attack at a house in Antrim. At least eight men, armed with knives, baseball bats and a machete, forced their way into his house in Donegare Drive early yesterday.

It is believed that one of the men may have also carried a gun. The assailants burst into the house, forcing the seven occupants to lie on the floor before attacking them. One of the occupants was slashed with the machete and suffered serious injuries to his left arm, leg and hand.

A second man and a woman also needed hospital treatment after receiving superficial injuries. In Lisburn, Co Antrim, four masked men broke into a flat shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday and beat one of the four occupants, who sustained severe bruising to his arms and body.
