A man appeared in court today charged with the unlawful killing of three people, who died when a lorry was in collision with a minibus in Co Antrim.

Mr Daniel Allen (40) an unemployed mechanic from Pelham Road in Derry, was charged with the unlawful killing of Ms Margaret Warren (52), Mr Derek McConnell (35) and Mr David Mitchell (57).

The three were part of a group of adults with learning disabilities travelling in a minibus on the Moneynick Road in Toomebridge on Thursday afternoon when it was hit by a lorry. Ten others were injured.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court, Mr Allen was also charged with taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.

Mr Allen was remanded in custody until December 5th.
