Man held over 2007 murder

Gardaí are continuing to question a man arrested this morning in connection with the death of English man Tommy Thompson four years ago.

The man was arrested in Ballymote, Co Sligo this morning and is being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Mr Thompson (59), who lived in Co Laois, went missing in April, 2007.

His remains were found in January of the following year in a shallow grave just off the main Portlaoise to Stradbally road at Dysart near the Rock of Dunamaise.

Mr Thompson, originally from the north of England, had been living in Portlaoise for about six years. He worked in the midlands and Dublin areas in the construction industry.
